Wine School by Tenuta Torciano: An Intro to Wine

The idea behind “Wine School by Tenuta Torciano: An Intro to Wine” is a deceptively simple one: an introductory class on the eight most important wine grapes. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s one of the hallmarks of the Wine School of Tenuta Torciano: to take something seemingly elementary and turn it into a brilliant and captivating experience. If you are new to the study of wine – or simply new to the Wine School of Tenuta Torciano – this class is for you. Here, you will experience each of the Wine School’s hallmarks: dispelling industry rumors, banishing popular wine myths, and delivering information in an easy-to-understand manner.

Torciano wines are “exclusive” and you can only purchase it during this event, or during a visit to the winery in San Gimingnao, Tuscany. The art of making this wine is something that has been handed down for over 13 generations of vineyard workers – an important heritage is the secret to its success.

Featured wines for the evening include: Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Chianti Classico Reserve, Brunello di Montalciano, four Super Tuscans, and a dessert wine, Vin Santo. Also featured will be a first cold press DOP Olive Oil, Truffle Oil, Pepper Oil and a 30-year-old Balsamic vinegar. Your featured presenter for the evening will be Lillo, nephew of the winery’s owner, Pierluigi Giachi and an expert on Sangiovese and Brunello wines.

Allegheny HYP Club Chef Steven Kightlinger will create dishes to pair with the luxury Torciano Wines selected for this event, which will also feature hand-crafted vinegars and olive oils. Mr. Carlo Dozzi from Buon Sapore has worked with Torciano for many years and will be at this event to introduce you to these fine wines.
